The Age of Aquarius is the fourth album by American pop group The 5th Dimension, released in 1969 (see 1969 in music). Side One. "Medley: Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)" (Galt MacDermot, James Rado, Gerome Ragni) – 4:51. Blowing Away" (Laura Nyro) – 2:32. Skinny Man" (Michael Kollander, Ginger Kollander) – 2:51. Wedding Bell Blues" (Laura Nyro) – 2:44. Don'tcha Hear Me Callin' to Ya" (Rudy Stevenson) – 3:56.

Medley: Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)" (commonly called "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", "The Age of Aquarius" or "Let the Sunshine In") is a medley of two songs written for the 1967 musical Hair by James Rado and Gerome Ragni (lyrics), and Galt MacDermot (music), released as a single by American R&B group The 5th Dimension. The song peaked at number one for six weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in the spring of 1969

The Age of Aquarius, the 5th Dimension's fourth album, was the group's commercial peak. They had already topped the charts with their medley of two songs from the Broadway musical Hair, "The Age of Aquarius" and "Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures)," a platinum single that would earn them Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Group, when they released this album. And the album also spawned Top 40 hits in Nyro's "Blowing Away" and Neil Sedaka's "Workin' on a Groovy Thing. The 5th Dimension were the successors to the . vocal group mantle passed on by The Mamas and the Papas (they even inherited the studio band of Hal Blaine, Joe Osborne, and Larry Knechtel). They smoothed out and commercialized everything they sang, and their work had a sheen and a zest that sometimes contrasted with the original tone of the material.

The 5th Dimension was a highly popular ensemble group during the late '60s and early '70s. It originally consisted of Billy Davis, J. Marilyn McCoo, Lamonte McLemore, and Ron Townson, who were quickly joined by Florence LaRue. They at first called themselves the Versatiles, and owed their rise to Motown Records and Johnny Rivers, who had just started his own record company. This song turned out to be their biggest hit, staying at for six weeks. The 5th Dimension performed several more hits over the years until 1975, when Davis and McCoo got married and left the group.
