British Lion is the debut solo album from Steve Harris, best known as the bassist and primary songwriter for the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The album was announced on 18 July 2012 and released on 24 September. Following the initial announcement of the album's release in July 2012, Classic Rock revealed that the project originated with a band, named British Lion, which Harris had been mentoring in the early 1990s.

Stephen Percy Harris (born 12 March 1956) is an English musician, songwriter, bassist, occasional keyboardist, backing vocalist, primary songwriter and founder of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He has been the band's only constant member since their inception in 1975 and one of only two to have appeared on all of their albums, the other being guitarist Dave Murray.

Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris is taking his band British Lion on a European tour throughout November and December. The trek, which is their most extensive outing to date, will focus on the club circuit while visiting countries they’ve yet to play. It will also include new music from the band. It’s been great fun taking British Lion out on the road over the past three years and I’m delighted we have the opportunity to play some more shows in 2016, Harris told Blabbermouth. Harris went on to say that they will be recording sets on the road to contribute to an upcoming live album. The to-be-announced release will be the follow up to their 2012 self-titled debut.
