In October 1985 Drivin N Cryin played their first show at Atlanta’s famed 688 Club. The band quickly gained attention for their blistering live shows, and amassed a rabid fanbase in the fertile soil of the late-1980s Southeast music scene  . The following year, Drivin N Cryin released a vinyl-only album, entitled Archives Vol One, with a collection of basement recordings from the years 1988 to 1990.

Mystery Road is the third studio album by the Hard Rock/Southern Rock band Drivin' N' Cryin', released on March 28, 1989, by Island Records. The Washington Post said the album "remains a classic of the genre". Originally, Peter Buck was going to be the producer of the album. He was a friend and . were successful, and they recorded demos together. However, Island Records refused and chose Scott McPherson to be the producer.

Together, these 11 songs connect the dots between the sounds that have shaped Drivin N Cryin’s career since the beginning, mixing together the jangle of folk music, the weirdo textures of 1960s psychedelia, the punky slash-and-burn of old-school rock & roll, and the sweep of Kinney’s southern ballads. The 11-track album highlights the quality mix of Southern rock, country and folk that Drivin N Cryin have been perfecting since forming in the mid-Eighties.

Venerable Georgia rock band Drivin N Cryin have announced the new album Live the Love Beautiful. Produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan - who played guitar for the group for two years before launching his own successful solo career - the 11-track album highlights the quality mix of Southern rock, country and folk that Drivin N Cryin have been perfecting since forming in the mid-Eighties. Joamets is just the latest guitar hero to lend his skills to Drivin N Cryin: prior to Tasjan, Sadler Vaden, currently in Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit, was on six-string duty. The band is set to play Rome, Georgia, on April 5th and will continue on the road through the summer in support of Live the Love Beautiful.
