Big Swing Face is a 1967 live album and the second album by Buddy Rich and his 1960s big band. The Beat Goes On" is a feature for Rich's daughter Cathy, whose vocal performance was overdubbed later at United Recording in Hollywood. A reissue in 1996 doubles the listing with nine previously unreleased performances from the same engagement at the Chez Club in Hollywood. Harbor Lights was the fourth album by Bruce Hornsby and was released by RCA Records in 1993. The record showcased Hornsby in a more jazz-oriented setting and featured an all-star lineup, including Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Jerry Garcia, Phil Collins and Bonnie Raitt.

Never let it be said that Bruce Hornsby has had a predictable career. He very well could have followed one of two paths after his first two albums - he could have continued turning out heartland rock, or slipped into adult contemporary balladeering. He chose a third path - a restless, sometimes bewildering, foray into experimentation, heavy on jazz and improvisation; there was a reason he played with the Grateful Dead, after all. This led to a series of records that relied more on instrumentals than songs, culminating in 1998's sprawling double-disc set, Spirit Trail.
