In 1997–98, Martin hosted a three-part BBC co-produced documentary series titled "The Rhythm of Life", in which he discussed various aspects of musical composition with professional musicians and singers, among them Brian Wilson, Billy Joel, and Celine Dion . Produced in association with Sir George Martin, Soundbreaking: Stories from the Cutting Edge of Recorded Music charts a century's worth of music innovation and experimentation, and offers a behind-the-scenes look at recorded music. Soundbreaking features more than 160 original interviews with some of the most celebrated recording artists, producers, and music industry pioneers of all time Death
Fifth Beatle George Martin's Film Scores To Be Released. Music composed by Martin for films and various other projects during his lifetime has been revisited and recorded for release. The album will feature music written by Martin for films like Yellow Submarine and Live And Let Die as well as previously unreleased scores, orchestral works and original compositions, according to Rolling Stone. Martin was an absolute visionary, and while his incomparable work on Beatles albums brought his musical genius to the world, it also overshadowed his other projects at times. Conductor Craig Leon and the Berlin Music Ensemble brought many of these projects to life with this new collection of recordings. Now, nearly 50 years later, a remixed reissue arrives with more than 75 previously unreleased tracks produced by Giles Martin, who has been sharing stories of his unexpected encounters with The Beatles' original sessions.
Produced By George Martin is a feature length profile of Sir George Martin, Britain’s most celebrated record producer. The film talks about his childhood, his war experience and his early days as a music student. In the early fifties he joined EMI/Parlophone and started working on orchestral music, comedy records and music for children. Then in 1962 he signed The Beatles. Together George Martin and The Beatles revolutionized pop music and recording techniques forging probably the greatest producer, artist collaboration there will ever be. The film is in an intimate portrait of George Martin at home and at work. It features numerous classic clips of the artists he has.
In 2001, he released ‘Produced by George Martin: 50 Years In Recording’, a six-CD retrospective of his entire studio career. He quit working with ‘The Beatles’, when he suffered a hearing loss and was soon succeeded by writer/producer, Jeff Lynne of ELO fame. Martin announced his retirement mainly because of his hearing loss and age, but remained active in the music industry and was usually seen at various public events. Rubber Soul’, an album which he produced, was released on December 3, 1965. This folk album received great critical acclaim and commercial success and was cited as one of the greatest albums in music history and ranked on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
