Angels With Dirty Faces.

Angels with Dirty Faces is the third album of English musician Tricky, released in 1998. The title is taken from the film of the same name. Broken Homes" features English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey. Carriage for Two" features the guitar playing of Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. Various tracks features the guitars of Marc Ribot. The Moment I Feared" is a cover of the Slick Rick track of the same name.

Tricky, however, failed miserably. Angels with dirty faces" is probably the most malignant piece of pompous shit to be released in the late 90s (only rivalled by Goldie's "Saturnz Return"). There are basically no melodies, the lyrics make you cringe, and even PJ Harvey sounds terrible in her guest appearance. Perhaps every artist needs to release something like this at some point in their career, but I'd be greatly surprised if anyone let this near their cd player more than once

Following "Angels with Dirty Faces", Tricky would abandon his wild wanderings once and for all in favor of a much tamer sound, but if one were to consider this the last purist Tricky record, he could not have ended his vision on a better note. Thankfully this pressing of the album adds on "Peyote Sings" and "Taxi", both of which are two of Tricky's best songs and are essential to this record. One person found this helpful. Because of that, some people aren't going to appreciate the wierder songs on this album like "Talk to Me (Angels With Dirty Faces)," prefering more familiar beats and styles. But I like weird music. The last two songs ("Tear Out My Eyes" and "Record Companies") are the best by far.

White gold White gold
Bitching about record companies always seems to precede the death of vitality in any artist. Prince made a showing of it by tattooing "slave" to his cheek, changing his name to the image of a contorted trombone and only releasing his albums from his website, but still managed to retain some form of entertainment value. Tricky, however, failed miserably. "Angels with dirty faces" is probably the most malignant piece of pompous shit to be released in the late 90s (only rivalled by Goldie's "Saturnz Return"). There are basically no melodies, the lyrics make you cringe, and even PJ Harvey sounds terrible in her guest appearance. Perhaps every artist needs to release something like this at some point in their career, but I'd be greatly surprised if anyone let this near their cd player more than once. Perhaps it wouldn't have sounded as bad if "Pre-millenium Tension" wasn't such a groundbreaking album, but this is just sad. It could be useful for getting rid of the last guests hanging around at your after-party, I suppose.
