Slow Motion Daydream is the sixth studio album by Everclear. It was released in the . The first single released to radio from Slow Motion Daydream was "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom", followed by second single "The New York Times". Though the album debuted better than the band's last album at 33 on the Billboard charts, the album quickly fell off the charts. The album has sold 100,000 copies.

Too bad it was the end of the road for the old Everclear. After releasing three highly acclaimed albums from 1995-2000 Everclear released the second part of Songs From An American Movie. It was called Good Time For A Bad Attitude and was basically believed to be a mistake. Three years later, they created the ultimate atrocity known as Slow Motion Daydream. Why was it such an atrocity" Instead of releasing a great track known as "The New York Times" as the first single they decided to release the silly, naughty, but not single worthy "Volvo Driving Soccer Mo. Because of this, they lost many fans.

Slow Motion Daydream combines Everclear's more mellow acoustic guitar riffs with more sonically edgy choruses. Also, a few token punk songs such as Volvo Driving Soccer Mom are added into the mix. The album starts out with the song, How to Make Friends and Influence people, which sets the mood for the album. While their last two albums had their moments they were nothing like the first 3 albums that came before them. Slow Motion Daydream sounds alot like Afterglow and actually just might be better than Afterglow.

If it's an album that also argues that the band is working from formula, it's one they'd be wise to patent.

Aging was never going to be an easy task for Everclear. Led by Art Alexakis, a singer/songwriter who was just a little older than the rest of his post-grunge peers, perhaps inevitably led to his tackling subjects outside of the range of the Seven Mary Three s of the world; but that wasn't as much of a problem as the fact that his band was a career band in an era. where the music industry and the audience generally ignored career bands.
