Electra Heart is the second studio album by Welsh singer Marina Diamandis, released under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds. It was released on 27 April 2012 by 679 Artists and Atlantic Records. Diamandis collaborated with producers including Liam Howe, Greg Kurstin, Dr. Luke, Diplo and Stargate during its recording, and subsequently transitioned from the new wave musical styles seen throughout her debut studio album, The Family Jewels (2010).

Primadonna and How to be a Heartbreaker really spoke to me as songs and I loved the sassy sound they both have. Every song on the album is perfect. There is not one single song I could not listen to again and again, I could literally listen to the album on a loop, and I did for a long period of time. I used to travel far distances on buses and listen to the album on repeat and I believe all the songs are engraved inside my brain. Reply Notify me Helpful.

The album isn’t entirely the work of Electra, either. Songs like Starring Role -one of the several highlights of the record-prove that underneath the gray hair, glamorous dresses and that heart-shaped mark on her cheek, it’s still Marina singing: The only time you open up is when we get undressed, Marina sadly sings. And despite her best attempt at defiance during the soldiering chorus, the song shines with its bitterness: Come on baby, let’s just get drunk/Forget we don’t get on, she offers.
