Lazy" is a single by British house duo X-Press 2, featuring vocals from American singer and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. It was written and produced by X-Press 2 and co-written by Byrne. The song was released on 11 March 2002 through Skint Records and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, held off number one by "Unchained Melody" by Gareth Gates, and spent four weeks in the UK top 10. An orchestral re-recording of the song appears on Byrne's 2004 solo album Grown Backwards.

So this is a not on label mash up of Where loves Lives by Alison Limerick and Lazy by David Byrne. I always liked Lazy but its not a peak night floor filler. Add the excellent classic of where loves lives and suddenly this tune is huge.

I remember hearing this record while having the flu tucked up in bed listening to Danny Rampling's Lovegroove Dance Party on BBC Radio 1. They say you remember where you were when you hear great records that you just fall in love with on first listen. I heard it and couldn't believe how good this track was and still is. This just oozes sunny Ibiza - even thought it was released March time i remember. The vocal is bliss, a masterstroke getting David Byrne on board. But for me, the real highlight here is the backing. The pianos, the chords, the bass - it's all spot on. There's a brief bit where the pianos play about midway through with the strings - proper hair on the back of your neck type stuff. This should have been a number one record - it truly deserved it. Absolute future classic in many years to come.

For all you trainspotters out there: that stringy loop with the vague sounds at the beginning of "Lazy" is actually a loop created from that first Vapour Space album "Themes From Vapour Space". The loop is compiled from the point where "Anaximander's Time Stick" morphes into "Gravitational Arch Of 10". :)

I'm astounded by the ratings of this. For someone who has been listening to house music for nearly 15 years and has a collection stretching back to 1986, I really do feel that this is a classic original piece of house music and outshines much of the dross from recent years. Sadly good quality vocal house music is in very short supply but Ashley, Rocky & Diesal deserve a lot of credit, along with the incomparable David Byrne for this stunning release.

Probably the most commercial release from X-Press 2, with rather light hearted lyrics. The Norman Cook remix is fantastic, bringing an old school dance feel good vibe to the track.
