The Book of Snobs is a collection of satirical works by William Makepeace Thackeray published in book form in 1848, the same year as his more famous Vanity Fair. The pieces first appeared in fifty-three weekly pieces from February 28, 1846 to February 27, 1847, as "The Snobs of England, by one of themselves", in the satirical magazine Punch
Snob is a pejorative term for a person who believes there is a correlation between social status and human worth. Snob also refers to a person who feels superiority over those from lower social classes, education levels, or other social areas. The word snobbery came into use for the first time in England during the 1820s. A snob is also a tool (an anvil) used by cobblers in the manufacture of footwear.

A Taxonomy of Music Snobs. Nerd Shit, Open Swim, Opinion. By Guacamole Jim. July 22, 2015. We all know ’em; we all hate ’em. There are few things more annoying than talking about a band that you love, only to have a musical snob sneer and turn up their nose at your every word, until finally they can edge their way into the conversation to talk about how the music you love is significantly inferior to the music they love.
