On this album, Runemagick aim for a thick, occasionally groove-y sound that’s unlike anything I’ve heard before and it’s definitely not a Swedish sounding death metal record either. Sure, the keyboards bring to mind early Edge of Sanity (the break in ‘’For You, My Death’’ does make me think of Unorthodox somewhat) and the melodic leads resemble melodic death metal bands of the mid 90’s, but that’s about it. Thorough the album you’ll get a mix of different riffs conjuring different moods and the band let that be known rather quickly One flaw I can’t let unnoticed is how The Supreme Force of Eternity manages to sound too passive at times. For a death metal album, I find this to be a rather unique, if weird. ’Curse of the Dark Rune’’ and ‘’Nocturnal Creation’’ rather plod along with no real redeeming riffs.

Their first full-length, The Supreme Force of Eternity, was released in 1998 on Century Media Records. A lot of those who know Runemagick know them for their derivative and mediocre releases later in their career, the worst being Requiem of the Apocalypse. Many tend to overlook a band’s discography when they hear about one disappointing release. This can be exacerbated if the band is underground, and many do not get the recognition they deserve in the metal community. Runemagick is a band that suffers from this, as their debut album is simply a Death Metal clinic. Runemagick is a death metal/doom metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. They started out as a pure death metal band but later incorporated more and more doom metal influences. The band was started in 1990 by Nicklas "Terror" Rudolfsson under the name Desiderius, which was quickly changed to Runemagic. After a few demos the band fell apart. Rudolfsson restored Runemagic in 1997 and added the "k" to the name.
