After "Radio Music Society," Spalding intends to collaborate on an album with Milton Nascimento, the Brazilian guitarist with whom she's recently "gotten closer t. Esperanza Spalding Beats Bieber, Drake. for Best New Artist Grammy. Oh, I love him. He's phenomenal. He's a beautiful human being," says Spalding, who has also recorded recent collaborations with Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington and Nicholas Payton. It's really been a pleasure to get to know him. He's one of those people who are as good-hearted and wonderful in person.
Her words and music, as continued in Radio Music Society, are telling new stories in her own voice. Track Listing: Radio Song; Cinnamon Tree; Crowned & Kissed; Land of the Free; Black Gold; I Can't Help It; Hold On Me; Vague Suspicions; Endangered Species; Let Her; City of Roses; Smile Like That
Esperanza Spalding and her Radio Music Society was selected as Jazz Artist and Album of the year at 77th Annual Readers Poll of the Downbeat magazine. This is not the reason I bought this album. Before I heard her at Tokyo Jazz 2012 in the last September, I thought I had pretty much sense of what Esperanza Spalding meant to current jazz scene: In the Downbeat magazine and the Jazz Times magazine she was featured several times as the most impressive singing jazz bassist, an ambassador for improvised music with chops to match her charm.

The much anticipated new album by Esperanza Spalding, Radio Music Society, is finally here. The album is the follow up to her Grammy-award winning Chamber Music Society, the album is described as Spalding’s most diverse, ambitious and masterful recital yet. Spalding considers the new album to be a companion to her last, rather than a sequel. Originally I thought it would be fun to release a double album, Spalding said
