John Baxter Browning Bryant (born January 24, 1957) is an American singer-songwriter, whose greatest commercial popularity was before and during his early teens. Known professionally as Browning Bryant, he is the only progeny of Maud and Ray Bryant, and a long-time resident of Pickens, South Carolina. He attained success singing folk-pop that was mature and introspective for a pre-teen heartthrob.
A remarkably mature delivery for a 13yo bo. Browning Bryant, 13yo boy soprano, sings Yesterday, LP, 1970.
John Baxter Browning Bryant (born January 24, 1957) is an American singer-songwriter, whose greatest commercial popularity was before and during his early teens. In 1974, Bryant's last commercial album was released. New Orleans hit-maker Allen Toussaint produced the album and wrote most of its songs. It featured backing by members of the R&B group The Meters. Though he was 15 and then 16 years old when the album was recorded, his mellifluous vocals are remarkably mature. His three self-penned songs also belie his age, with one, "Cure My Blues", being covered by blues singer Ellen McIlwaine.
Brown Album is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Primus. It was released on July 8, 1997. It was the band's first album with new drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia, who replaced former drummer Tim Alexander. The album has received a mixed reception from critics and fans. Brown Album was the first Primus release to not feature drummer Tim Alexander and the first to feature Bryan "Brain" Mantia.
Browning told me that this was the first album produced at legendary Sea-Saint studio. It features the remarkably mature and emotive voice of young Mr. Bryant, who was just 15 when production began. The trademark Allen Toussaint sound is in full blossom, and his usual array of top-flight musicians are present. The songs - most by Toussaint and several by Bryant - are uniformly high quality.
