Description

Scherzo - Allegro molto", "Canon in D Major Arr. for Solo Harp", "String Quartet No. 14 in D Minor, D. 810, "Death and the Maiden": IV. Presto".

When you close your eyes and listen to Orbiter, you get the idea that you just might wake up in a lounge in Dayton, OH, or the airport bar at O'Hare, sipping on a cocktail and wondering how you got there. That would probably be fine with the band as you have to suspect that their music is probably better suited to cocktails than watered-down PBR at rock clubs. The basis for this laid-back and bright pop is the series of sounds and beats created by Harris Thurmond (ex-Hammerbox) and producer Tucker Martine

Life on a String is the seventh studio album by performance artist Laurie Anderson, released in 2001 on Nonesuch Records. One of Anderson's predominantly musical (as opposed to spoken-word) albums, Life on a String was recorded at the Lobby Studios in New York City under the musical direction of Skúli Sverrisson, and produced by Anderson and Hal Willner. Guest musicians on the album include Van Dyke Parks, Mocean Worker, Mitchell Froom and Lou Reed.

Orbiter: Sparks on a String. A shining example of the work of Tucker Martine (issue recorded at his Flora Ave Studio, another place called Airstream, and also at Martin Feveyear's Jupiter Studios. It's a sonic treat with many "Tucker" touches, like processed drum sounds, backwards sounds and open, evolving, interesting mixes. Cool poppy rock action too, with guy/girl vox and some crazy guitar work. Tape Op is a bi-monthly magazine devoted to the art of record making.
