2000 : U 96 released an album called Best Of 1991-2001 with 5 new songs and a bonus megamix CD. In the album's sleeve, you can find Alex's a and U96's story. There was also a new version of Das Boot released as a single, entitled Das Boot 2001. Meanwhile Alex began to work on other projects, among which Rollergirl (started in 1999) and ATC (started in 2000).

U96 is a German dance-music project formed by the DJ and producer Alex Christensen and a team of producers named Matiz (Ingo Hauss, Helmut Hoinkis, and Hayo Lewerentz). In 2018 project was rebooted, without Christensen and Hoinkis. The name of the project comes from the film Das Boot about the German submarine U-96 from the Second World War. The project's first hit, "Das Boot" (1991), is a techno adaptation of the film's title melody, which had been originally composed by Klaus Doldinger

In this year also their Best Of -Album had been released. It did not include "Das Boot". In 2003 U96 made another comeback with the single We Call It Love. But it also had no big success. In March 2006 the new single "Vorbei", featured by Ben, was released. U96 now changed their style from Trance, Hands Up to more commercial Pop. On this production there was only Alex Christensen who produced it, so U96 didn't consist any more of the team Matiz, AC. The new team of U96 consisted of Alex Christensen and Steffen Häfelinger. U96 had a strange and own way of making music, and most of their songs was very good. They made both ambient, electronic, trance, hard trance, dance ( and much more ) music. They are remembered, and is a landmark for electronic music.
