Absence is the third album by alternative hip hop group Dälek, released by Ipecac Recordings in 2005. The album, according to the group, was recorded during a very dark and pessimistic time period for the group, which in turn resulted in the recording's dark, bleak sound. All tracks written by MC Dälek, Oktopus and Joshua Booth. Upon its initial release in 2005, Absence received praise from many publications. Critics praised the album for its brooding sound and thought provoking lyrics.

Absence is an album that flows smoothly. There are no rough transitions or anything that would be out of place, consistency rules supreme here and I can safely say this album does no wrong. Too many times I come across albums that are consistently good but are lacking in any particular stand out moments, Absence is different because it’s jam packed full of stand outs. The female vocalist has a beautiful voice and it has been handled well in Absence. I also like the male cleans as well, being fairly strong and carrying a lot of emotion behind them, it’s a perfect fit.

In Absence", the debut EP from Hespera, was written by guitarists Cole Martinez and Matt Silac, who you most likely aren’t familiar with (although Martinez has done some production work for Whitechapel, Aborted and System Divide. ut it sure sounds a whole lot like Soilwork! A big part of that is because the vocalist on the record is none other than Björn Speed Strid himself.
