I wanted to really give people some more of the same and then really take things up a level too, said Faye, who is joined by BettySoo and Akina Adderly in a group that brings 60s pop to the current era without sounding dated in the slightest. When I started that project, I could tell it was something special, she said. People responded to Charlie Faye and the Fayettes in a way that they never responded to my solo singer-songwriter stuff. And the way I felt playing this music was so much better than I felt playing my singer-songwriter stuff. This is the music I’ve loved since I was a kid and it’s just so much fun for me to get up there and sing these 60s pop songs.
