The 22nd LP in the collector's label Joyce's Charlie Barnet series contains a great deal of valuable (and mostly rare) recordings. All but the final selection (a fine version of "Spain") dates from March-August 1949, a period when Charlie Barnet led a very spirited bop big band. The trumpet section featured Rolf Ericson, John Howell, Ray Wetzel, Doc Severinson and Maynard Ferguson, and could really scream.
