Radio Ethiopia is the second studio album by the Patti Smith Group. It released in October 1976 through Arista Records. Radio Ethiopia was the follow-up record to Smith's widely acclaimed debut Horses. In interviews surrounding the album's release, Smith explained that she chose producer Jack Douglas in hopes of making the album a commercial success

A year after her critically lauded debut, Horses, Patti Smith and her bandmates returned with the savage, liberated, and only slightly more commercial avant-punk of Radio Ethiopia. Ask the Angels is one of Smith’s most thrilling rockers, the loose riffs and scream-along chorus perfect inspiration for pissed-off teens. Distant Fingers is a poetic plea for rescue from an earthly existence, while Smith lets loose the bile for tortured ballad Pissing In a River, invoking bodily functions to describe a painful breakup.
