Shivering (also called shaking) is a bodily function in response to cold in warm-blooded animals. When the core body temperature drops, the shivering reflex is triggered to maintain homeostasis. Skeletal muscles begin to shake in small movements, creating warmth by expending energy. Shivering can also be a response to a fever, as a person may feel cold. During fever the hypothalamic set point for temperature is raised.

No fan of Blindside could tell you, with honesty, that 2002's Silence was a mistake. Silence was easily their most widely loved album and it far surpassed their first two nearly forgotten albums

Dead Meadow's third album offers up more of the dense, chewy, and chunky sound they so effortlessly create. Whereas their first album was an immediately accesible masterpiece (IMO), Shivering King and Others is not as immediate. It is one of those albums that challenges and takes time to reveal itself. And aren't those usually the best kind? Give it a chance and it will grow on you like a fungus. Dirges, slowed tempos, and a general air of murkiness pervade the music.
