Joan of Arc, in French Jeanne d'Arc (French pronunciation: ) or Jehanne (6 January 1412 – 30 May 1431), nicknamed "The Maid of Orléans" (French: La Pucelle d'Orléans), is considered a heroine of France for her role during the Lancastrian phase of the Hundred Years' War, and was canonized as a Roman Catholic saint. She was born to Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romée, a peasant family, at Domrémy in northeast France.

Joan Of Arc is the project of t and singer Tim Kinsella, who used to play in emocore outfit Cap'n Jazz with guitarist Davey VonBohlen. Burritos (Man With Gun, 1994) was their only album. Il primo album solista di Mike Kinsella è un EP per chitarra acustica e voce He Sang His Didn't He Danced His Did (Troubleman, 2001), che collezione outtakes di Gap, seguito da un nuovo progetto, Owen (Polyvinyl, 2001), una collezione di pezzi sentimentali. Joan Of Arc's bassist Matt Clark formed Pinebender, that released the avant-slocore (slow, loud and catchy) of Things Are About To Get Weird (Ohio Gold, 2000).

Joan of Arc issued two albums in 2006 to celebrate the band's ten year anniversary. The album of new material, Eventually, All at Once showcases the sound developed after 2004's beatifically dark In Rape Fantasy and Terror Sex We Trust. This one, The Intelligent Design of Joan of Arc (these guys have never exactly been humble) collects rare tracks from singles, compilations, split 12" tracks, and Japan-only comps. There are 19 selections here going all the way back to the beginning with the three-song Method & Sentiment single issued on Jade Tree in 1996.

Joan of Arc was born in 1412, in Domremy, France. The daughter of poor tenant farmers Jacques d’ Arc and his wife, Isabelle, also known as Romée, Joan learned piety and domestic skills from her mother. Never venturing far from home, Joan took care of the animals and became quite skilled as a seamstress. In 1415, King Henry V of England invaded northern France. After delivering a shattering defeat to French forces, England gained the support of the Burgundians in France.
