Dave Berry (born David Holgate Grundy, 6 February 1941 in Woodhouse, Sheffield) is an English pop singer and former teen idol of the 1960s. He performed a mixture of R&B and pop ballads and was popular in Britain, and in Continental Europe, especially Belgium and the Netherlands, but had no commercial success in the US, where he is best known for the original versions of Ray Davies' "This Strange Effect" and Graham Gouldman's "I'm Going To Take You There".
All the Dave Berry you need, with all but one of the 20 tracks dating from his 1964-66 heyday. Sensibly divided into a 10-song R&B side and a 10-song pop side, it includes all his hit singles - "The Crying Game," "Little Things," "Memphis," the unfortunate "Mama" - as well as "This Strange Effect" and "Don't Gimme No Lip Child. Some of the R&B tracks are mediocre; others (especially "Gimme No Lip") growl along neatly.
