Imagine is the second studio album by John Lennon after his departure from the Beatles. Recorded and released in 1971, the album's musical arrangements are more elaborate compared to the basic, small-group arrangements of his first album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Imagine is the most popular of Lennon's solo albums and the title track is considered by many to be one of Lennon's finest songs. In 2012, the album was voted 80th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

It spent eight weeks on the chart.

Imagine: John Lennon 75th. has been added to your Cart. One person found this helpful. A heartfelt tribute to the great John Lennon, the show was unusual for including country singer-songwriters like Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith kicks things off, followed by such performers as Sheryl Crow, John Fogarty, Aloe Blacc, Spoon, Peter Frampton, and The Roots.
After the harrowing Plastic Ono Band, John Lennon returned to calmer, more conventional territory with Imagine. While the album had a softer surface, it was only marginally less confessional than its predecessor. Underneath the sweet strings of "Jealous Guy" lies a broken and scared man, the jaunty "Crippled Inside" is a mocking assault at an acquaintance, and "Imagine" is a paean for peace in a world with no gods, possessions, or classes, where everyone is equal. And Lennon doesn't shy away from the hard rockers - "How Do You Sleep" is a scathing.
Imagine is John Lennon’s second solo album release, in autumn 1971, full of brilliant songs with great hooks, but with John’s acerbic wit ever-present. And like his previous album, Imagine has Yoko Ono’s influence all over it and no more so than in the brilliant title song. Yoko’s poetry, included in her 1964 book Grapefruit, helped inspire John’s lyrics for ‘Imagine’, and also influenced the cover of the album.
