Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".

The Swingin' Pig released this album in 1989 on vinyl and on CD. Although it has been released to death, you can't fault this incredible package. The front cover is the rare Martin Sharp sixties poster. In more detail, the story is as follows: The incident occurred during Bob Dylan and The Hawks (later The Band) notorious UK tour in May 1966. It was on these dates that Bob first appeared in Britain with an electric band. His tour the previous spring, immortalised in the film Don't Look Back, was still solo Dylan, in protest mode, with just an acoustic guitar. And then, off mic: "You fucking liar!" (some claim he said: "Play fucking loud!") before he and the band kick into the most majestic, terrifying version of "Like a Rolling Stone", their final number - a performance of Gothic immensity surely drawn from Dylan by his anger at that single shout. The heckler was identified some 33 years later as 'Keith Butler' when he spoke with Chris Nelson in an indepth interview.

One of the most famous concerts in rock history saw Bob Dylan battle hecklers at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England on May 17, 1966. This frenzy continued as he toured the . in support of Highway 61 Revisited with his new partners-in-crime the Hawks, a mostly Canadian quintet that used to back up rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins. The negative reaction took its toll on the group’s lone American, drummer Levon Helm. I’d been raised to believe that music was supposed to make people smile and want to party, he wrote in his autobiography, This Wheel’s on Fire.

The previous summer, during the end of the at-times-difficult sessions for Highway 61 Revisited, producer Bob Johnston had introduced Dylan to t Charlie McCoy, a seasoned musician from Nashville who’d played with everyone from Elvis to Perry Como. With his creativity peaking, Dylan began entertaining the idea that the album might become a double LP. He left Nashville for some more concert dates and returned in mid-March to finish the record. The songs recorded during the March session were shorter and flowed faster than ever, with Dylan working on a piano in his hotel room and Kooper playing musical director, taking Dylan’s ideas to the session musicians to prep them so that when Dylan finally arrived with the finished song they’d be ready.

With those words, Bob Dylan would lead the Hawks on stage into a blizzard of hate during a 1966 spring tour. Dylan knew the ruckus his newly electrified music would ignite - the boos, the insults, the "fans" clawing to get onstage just so they could give the erstwhile folk deity a piece of their mind or a fist to the teeth for having the temerity to play rock 'n' roll. The Hawks - who would soon be known as the Band - were veteran road warriors, but they weren't quite prepared for this level of hostility. Their drummer, Levon Helm, had already quit because he was both mystified and scared by the reception Dylan's new music received during a handful of shows a few months earlier.

Why did the Self-Portrait 2lp got voted by poll for Dylan& worst album at that time when it was the best impression on him? I guess they pulled it to pieces for it& conceptional work - not being a "Hit Album" and the featured country musicians which were outdated in 1970. Just another example how hard critics can fail.
