Ludwig Van Beethoven Symphony No. 3 in E flat major (Eroica), Op. 55 Overture, Fidelio, Op. 72. Vladimir Jurowski conductor London Philharmonic Orchestra Pieter Schoeman leader. Inspired by acts of heroism, Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 broke the mould of the classical symphony, and with its scale and orchestration is considered the first symphony of the romantic era. If his first two symphonies hinted at the revolutionary character of their creator, the 'Eroica' unleashed a symphonic energy regarded as a turning point in musical history

Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 "Eroica". Beethoven: Symphony No. CD - Royal Philharmonic Masterworks, RPO. For directness, firmness, and coherence, Gunther Herbig 's performance of Ludwig van Beethoven 's Symphony No. 3 in E flat major, "Eroica," with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is certainly a worthwhile interpretation, though the recording has some qualities that make it a little less than extraordinary. Because the Royal Philharmonic Masterworks series is specifically promoted as an audiophile collection, this CD should offer much better reproduction than it delivers. The 32-bit digital recording is fine, but in this case it doesn't quite match the deep and spacious.

The Symphony No. 3 in B flat Major Op. 55, the famous Eroica, was premiered in Vienna in 1805 under the direction of the composer. This work broke with the classical symphony customs because of a length which had never been attained before (approximately fifty minutes). Completely misunderstood at the time, it was to be appreciated only with posterity. Abbado magistrally conducts this masterpiece. Music Videos and Concerts, Arts, Entertainment, and Culture.
