American power metal outfit Shadowstrike launch in all guns blazing with this debut EP. 'Infinite Power' displays many common power metal elements, and doesn't necessarily offer anything new or groundbreaking in that regard. However, the musicianship is very solid, the songwriting is progressive, and the energy felt is very genuine. The production is slightly raw yet professional, it makes me quite curious as to what a full length album by these guys will be like. Other highlights include "Storm of Ages" with its phenomenal 8-bit intro (no sarcasm, it actually rocks and fits well, haha!) and its Stormwarrior/Gamma Ray feeling, and the more serious tone of "Last Fire World" contrasts well with the otherwise jovial tone of the EP.
