Novella is the seventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 1977. Due to the bankruptcy of the band's UK label BTM, this album was released in the USA some months before its UK release, leading to a number of UK fans importing copies. At the time of this original issue, Sire was distributed in the USA by ABC Records; the cover featured unique artwork by Pamela Brown different from that which would be used for its subsequent UK issue.

Novella is the seventh studio album of Renaissance and was released in 1977. The line up on the album is Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, John Tout, Jon Camp and Terence Sullivan. The album has also the participation of Richard Hewson. When we talk about the years of 1976 and 1977 we mustn’t forget the arising of the punk movement. So, those years were a big problem for all progressive rock bands.

Taken from a very rare test pressing made by CBS Records in the months between Renaissance's departure from their original UK label 'BTM' and subsequent signing to Warner Brothers. This is a glorious piece of progressive rock, with the unusual twist of having no electric guitar at all. The music is held together by precise orchestration and the sublime, sweet vocals of Annie Haslam. Novella was released in the USA and Canada in January 1977 on Sire Records. It was released by Warner.
