The Demo versions found on this Cd are really amazing! The songs were eventually used on Xymox's first Lp, released via 4AD, as Clan of Xymox. The demo versions are longer in duration and display a "band" who is working in harmony. The drum machine is driving and the emotions are bursting with honesty. The instrumentation is slightly psychedelic and much more complex then the official 4AD release. I would say these demo's are actually more complex then the "official" release. The Subsequent Pleasures tracks define garage minimal-dark wave. The songs are sparse ad full of youthful vigor. The dark vocals compliment the minimal instrumentation and hitting drum machine. Over all, this release is a must-have for Clan of Xymox fans, who love the early work by these pioneering dark-wave masters.
