General Surgery was formed in late 1988 by: Matti Kärki: drums, vocals; Jonas Derouche: guitar; Grant McWilliams: bass; Richard Cabeza: lead vocals. The band was an outlet for the members at that time to musically profess their love for Carcass and grindcore in general. After losing and gaining several members, a relatively stable line-up was found for recording their first demo (and the following one), "Erosive Offals" in March of 1990. Pestisferous antrhopophagia 1990 demo. First 'official' recording by M. Made about a month later than the first, at the highly esteemed Sunlight Studio with goremaster Tomas Skogsberg giving us a better production than the first demo. Quality highly improved since 1st demo, directly related to the extended studio time - in this case upped to a generous SIX hour span. General Surgery remained inactive for approximately 11 years before reforming in 2004, releasing their first full-length album 17 years after their formation. Currently, the band enjoys modest success as practitioners of the Goregrind genre.
