Robert Wolfe Quine (December 30, 1942 – May 31, 2004) was an American guitarist, known for his innovative guitar solos. A native of Akron, Ohio, Quine worked with a wide range of musicians, though he himself remained relatively unknown in comparison. Critic Mark Demming writes "Quine's eclectic style embraced influences from jazz, rock, and blues players of all stripes, and his thoughtful technique and uncompromising approach led to rewarding collaborations with a number of visionary musicians.

Richard Hell was one of the first men on the scene when punk rock first began to emerge in New York City as an early member of both Television and the Heartbreakers (he left both groups before they could record). But his own version of punk wasn't much like anyone else's, and while Hell's debut album, Blank Generation, remains one of the most powerful to come from punk's first wave, those anticipating a Ramones/Dead Boys-style frontal assault from this set had better readjust their expectations.

Quine then worked in a movie memorabilia store in New York City with Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine who went on to form the influential rock band Television. Later, Hell invited him to join his new band the Voidoids  . With Material bandmate Fred Maher, Quine recorded his only other solo album, Basic, released in 1984. In the early 1980s, former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed drafted Quine to join his group. He appeared on Reed's The Blue Mask (1982), acclaimed as one of Reed's best albums.

Richard Hell and the Voidoids' final album has been remade. Twenty-seven years after the release of Destiny Street, the punk-rock legend has re-recorded the album and will release the "repaired" version on 1 September. At the time of the original recording I was so debilitated by despair and drug-need that I was useless," Hell said. The record ended up being a high-pitched sludge of guitar noise. It was a shame because the songs were clean, simple, and well-constructed, but those values were sabotaged by the inappropriate arrangements and production. Robert Quine, the Voidoids' inimitable lead guitarist, died in 2004. All 1,000 copies of the deluxe set are signed by Hell himself.

Originally released on Sire Records in 1977, the album was among the influential releases that came out of New York’s late ’70s punk scene.
