The Violin Concerto No. 219, often referred to by the nickname The Turkish, was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1775, premiering during the Christmas season that year in Salzburg. It follows the typical fast-slow-fast musical structure. Mozart composed the majority of his concertos for string instruments from 1773 to 1779, but it is unknown for whom, or for what occasion, he wrote them. Similarly, the dating of these works is unclear

Even though the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's series of audiophile recordings seems to cover classical repertoire in a fairly satisfactory way, with programs that feel self-contained and sufficient for most listeners' needs, occasionally a title is released that seems to be incomplete, despite the performers right to pick whatever pieces they please. Such is the case with this recording of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concertos, K. 216, and K. 219, and the Adagio in E, K. 261, featuring Jonathan Carney as soloist and conductor. There is no denying the excellence of the performances, for Carney is an eloquent player throughout and the RPO is warmly sympathetic and supportive. But if the remaining three violin concertos, K. 207, K. 211, and K. 218, are desired to round out the set, Carney appears never to have recorded them, and they aren't even offered by RPO with a different violinist.

Adagio' by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has a tempo of 94 beats per minute (BPM) on 'Violin Concertos nos. 1, 3 & 5. 3 in G major, KV 216: II. Adagio Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
