Though there are a few barely intelligible screams as things go, there's also a more relaxed though sometimes half-drunkenly hoarse (check out "Japan Dissolution") style. The music need not always be so restrained, though - thus the start of "Human Tornado," where an initial vocal/guitar snippet suddenly gets crushed by a measured, dissonant, horn-driven freakout thump.

Omoide Hatoba biography OMOIDE HATOBA got started as the solo project of Seiichi YAMAMOTO (guitars, ex-BOREDOMS) in 1987. He developed this project by recruiting Atsushi TSUYAMA (bass) and Chu HASEGAWA (drums), and released the debut EP 'Surfin' . In the same year they released the debut album 'Dai-ongaku' via the oldest Japanese independent label Alchemy Records. Since the release of the fifth album 'Kinsei' (1995) OMOIDE HATOBA have been the unsettled project around two bombastic players Seiichi and Atsushi - the dignified originality of OMOIDE HATOBA can be built up under battles of play by them. Omoide Hatoba is/was a band led by guitarist Seiichi Yamamoto, who also played in Boredoms at the same time. Although I am a fan of Boredoms in all their phases,Omoide Hatoba, while being quite similar to Boredoms,is I think more carefee and fun. Mantako, like all Omoide Hatoba albums,is just a mess of songs played half seriously, sound effects, simple instrumentals, funny vocals, etc. It's just a bunch of guys being goofy and messing around in the studio and having fun,and not taking anything too seriously. Sometimes that results in a bizarre mutant pop song, and sometimes just plain silliness!
