A 1978 unreleased Screaming Abdabs recording with a B-side of six 1979 wild solo tracks by Abdabs drummer Richard "City Ram" Waddy is about to be released on the Wallaby Beat label/blog. Guitarist Bruce Tindale and drummer Richard Waddy answered the ad. Just like nobody can remember his surname, no one can quite remember how bass player Nick entered the fold but a band was born and was soon working on a set of originals and covers

City Ram Waddy also opt mostly for covers (Chuck Berry, Neil Young, Rolling Stones and more) and are less vocally jarring, but with a guitar that sounds as though it’s made entirely of repurposed tin. Musical notes are barely audible through the metallic din, unrepentantly repetitive and unfriendly. When it’s just an occasional vocal and fast muted guitar, I almost pick up an accidental Suicide vibe from City Ram Waddy. Pressing plant mayhem permitting, The Screaming Abdabs/City Ram Waddy LP will be with us soon. Aesthetic reference points are: 1) The Glitter Band on a punk budget (check out the configuration of that drum kit); 2) John Waters films and the cultural dumping ground that was late night TV; 3) AC/DC (the LP has a cracking 90 second version of I'm A Rocker); 4) Australian '60s punk; and of course 5).

Stack Waddy is the first album by Stack Waddy, released in 1971 on Dandelion Records.

He notes that abdabs in WW2 was occasionally used for afters. delirium tremens' is specifically the screaming abdabs and is from the late 1930s. The 'hab-dabs' variant (this time with hyphen) he dates from ca 1942. He dates the phrase "screaming ab-dabs" to about 1950. In my copy of Partridge (8th E. he has no hyphen in 'abdabs'. He places it ". 0, esp WW2" for. hyphen) he dates from ca 1942.
