Beatin' the Odds is the third studio album by American southern rock band Molly Hatchet, released in 1980. This is the first album with new vocalist Jimmy Farrar, who replaced Danny Joe Brown. The remastering was directed by famous British producer Jon Astley. The album was also reissued under the SPV/Steamhammer label in 2013 and only included the original tracks.
With a change of lead vocalist (Danny Joe Brown replaced by Jimmy Farrar), Molly Hatchet seems to lose a bit of its fire, although "Beatin' the Odds" went on to make a favorable showing on classic rock radio. With only a couple of standout tracks, notably the title track and "Penthouse Pauper," the sound that the band had worked so hard to attain seems to have undergone more obvious changes than just the swapping of a lead singer. Still, a handful of high points here are sure to please the die-hard Molly Hatchet fan. Track Listing.
