Evil Spirits is the eleventh studio album from The Damned. Released on 13 April 2018, it is their first album in ten years and was produced by famed producer Tony Visconti who is best known for his work with David Bowie. The album was largely crowdfunded by a successful PledgeMusic campaign. The Damned announced the upcoming release of their album Evil Spirits – their first new LP in 10 years – on April 13. It follows So, Who’s Paranoid, which came out in 2008. Evil Spirits was funded by a pledge campaign and produced by David Bowie's longtime and frequent collaborator Tony Visconti. And then Evil Spirits and Shadow Evocation follow next, kindling a familiarly fractured Post-Punk angularity that may remind the initiated of Wild Flowers ( A Kind of Kingdom ) and Echo & the Bunnymen ( Devilment ). Near the end of their new, spirited, ten-track album, The Damned concocts something progressive, metallic, Gospel-tinged, and alternative with the ornate highlight of the album – The Daily Liar.

Released in 2018, Evil Spirits doesn't transform the Damned into Crass, but this sounds like the most socially conscious album the group has released to date. Here, the Damned sing about the precarious state of mankind ("Standing on the Edge of Tomorrow"), dangerous attitudes on all sides of the political spectrum ("Look Left"), the casual cynicism of the powers that be ("We're So Nice"), and corrupt forces at work in the media ("Daily Liar").
