It doesn't mean that some haven't become very wealthy developing land based on government favour. These aren't the only reasons for China's poverty reduction, of course, or for East Asia which has seen such dramatic falls in poverty. Image caption Extreme poverty remains a problem in Africa's poorest nations. So, it's hard to draw lessons from the past two decades in terms of the remaining stubborn pockets of poverty. After all, Africa has been the second-fastest growing region in the world, but hasn't seen falls in the number of the poor. For instance, Tanzania, which has grown well and been devoid of conflict, has seen the number of poor rise from nine million two decades ago to 15 million today.

It's Not Easy Being Green is the fourth studio album by Filipino rock band Rivermaya. The album features singles like "Nerbyoso" (Nervous), Rodeo, and Shattered Like. It is the first album after Bamboo Mañalac's departure. This is also their first album with Rico Blanco as the lead vocalist. It is also the last album they recorded for BMG Records Pilipinas. The album sold 40,000 units in the Philippines, making this the band's lowest selling album thus far and reached platinum certification status.

So it seems odd for this chart guerrilla to fall into so many trad-pop trappings on sophomore album It's Not Me, It's You. There's the sound: Alright, Still 's hissy, homey samples are booted for decidedly more streamlined and schizophrenic backdrops. The voice: Allen's conversational and unpredictable flow is replaced with broad, upfront lines. But there is such a thing as good trouble. Take first single "The Fear", part admission, part brag, part apocalyptic vision

It's Not Easy is a very different Joanie Pallatto recording. Co-owner along with pianist Bradley Parker-Sparrow of the jazz-oriented Southport label, Pallatto has always had an open-eared approach to music. Her voice is warm, flexible, and inviting whether expressing joy or melancholy moods. On It's Not Easy, the music ranges from atmospheric pieces to intimate duets, from folkish music and the feel of reggae to adventurous jazz. All ten of the selections are originals by the singer and she is in the spotlight nearly all of the time
