Kult performing live in Warsaw on November 2, 2005. Background information. However, in 1986 the band recorded its first album (named eponymously "Kult"; released the following year), which attracted much attention and included early punk-inspired hits "Krew Boga", "O Ani" and "Wspaniała nowina". Initially the censorship office did not allow for release of many songs by Staszewski, clearly aimed against "the system". Also in 1987 a second album, the slightly psychedelic "Posłuchaj to do Ciebie" was released. Released: February 1990. Label: Arston, Bogdan Studio, .

With the more emotionally charged 'Shelter In Place’ OTEP speaks out against school shootings and gun violence while also commending the strength and courage of survivors and the passion and devotion of the Parkland high school students who organized and set forth the MARCH FOR OUR LIVES movement. Later the album segues to a beautiful ballad called BRAVE that seductively beckons listeners to abandon their comfort zones and go after their dreams. Things needed to be said and songs needed to be written without fear so to bravely reflect the times.

OTEP, the band led by singer, poet, illustrator, author and activist Otep Shamaya, is about to unveil the most uncompromising, candid, all-inclusive and controversial assessment of the current residing political regime that it has ever released in the form of its eighth full-length album, titled "Kult 45". Drawing influences from politically charged recording artists of the past but allowing her artwork to remain fully and undeniably OTEP, Shamaya continues her nearly two-decade invasion of the senses on July 27 when "Kult 45" drops via Napalm Records

Kult 45 begins with Hail To The Thief, a fairly self-explanatory, under one-minute introduction that celebrates Agent Orange, the man who seeks to Make America Great Again. While you might want to thrash to this offering, the bottom-line is that, much like the entirety of Kult 45, this is not a celebratory topic by any means. In fact, Shamaya continues to take no prisoners on her attitude-heavy rap Boss ( I’m not a boss-bitch, I’m just a boss, bitch ), where she invites ladies (and inclined gentlemen) to challenge gender roles and take control of their own lives and ultimate destinies.
