ON APRIL 12, 1972, Don Van Vliet and his free jazz acid-R&B experimentalists The Magic Band, entered Radio Bremen’s Funkhaus to film a performance for German TV show Beat-Club. In this stunningly high-quality upload of four of the songs recorded that day, we witness the group in their full Spotlight Kid/Clear Spot-era glory with the magnificent trio of Zoot Horn Rollo (Bill Harkleroad), Rockette Morton (Mark Boston) and Winged Eel Fingerling (Elliot Ingber) laying freak-blues guitar over Art Tripp and Roy Estrada’s hynoptic backing. Mirror Man is the fifth studio album by American rock band Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, released in April 1971 by Buddah Records. It contains material that was recorded for the label in 1967 and originally intended for release as part of an abandoned project entitled It Comes to You in a Plain Brown Wrapper. Much of the material from this project was subsequently re-recorded and released through a different label as Strictly Personal (1968).

His legendary recordings like 'Safe As Milk,' 'Clear Spot' and the infamous 'Trout Mask Replica' are all essential additions to the adventurous listener's music library.
