Stern recorded Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major in 1976, in a London Studio with the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Schneider, and recorded Violin Concerto No. 5 in 1963, at Severence Hall, with George Szel and the Cleveland Orchestra. The sound is perhaps not as brilliant as today's digital recordings but it is quite good. Stern's humanity and warm violin tone reaches us, we feel it pulsing in our blood, and we are moved. This is music-making that lives, and will last. George Szell conducts Columbia Symphony Orchestra in the performance of Concerto No. 5 (from April 1963), while Alexander Schneider leads the English Chamber Orchestra in Concerto No. 4 (from February 1976).
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his Violin Concerto no. 2 in 1775. It is a work in three movements, following the standard fast-slow-fast structure, and scored for 2 oboes, 2 horns, a string orchestra, and a solo violin. Nowadays it is listed as K. 211 in the Köchel catalogue. A standard rendition lasts around 20 minutes. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his Violin Concerto no. 211 in the Köchel catalogue
