About Out in the Street. In the liner notes of the My Generation album reissue, Pete was quoted to have said: This was going to be a single. I hate that ‘no, no, no’ bit. It was originally ‘show me, show me’ but Kit Lambert thought it wasn’t very good. He wrote all the new lyrics. I’m not going to take the blame for any of them. While the album was being recorded, the song was titled You’re Gonna Know Me. "Out in the Street" Track Info. Written By Pete Townshend. Release Date December 3, 1965. My Generation The Who. 1. Out in the Street.
comentando Out In The Street, 7", Single, DS-457. well it took me decades but i FINALLY OWN a near mint copy of this classic 2nd ever japan who 45 released on decca japan in 1966, this is a fold out sleeve with the lyrics and an essay on the inside of the sleeve in both english and japanese, as you can see this also has a beautiful 1965 mod shot.
en référence à Out In The Street, 7", Single, DS-457. of the band from the my generation era, this is certainly one of the hardest who 45s in the world to find, i have been to japan a few times and i never even saw this there, most 1960s who 45s are very hard to come by but this is a total holy.
The Who have been with several labels over the years. In the United Kingdom and elsewhere outside North America, they were signed originally to Brunswick Records. In 1966, they moved to Polydor Records and took the rights to their Brunswick recordings with them. They created and moved to Track Records the following year with distribution by Polydor. They left Track in 1974 and returned to Polydor directly, remaining with the label ever since.

Polydor, who would release The Who’s recordings in the UK over the next two decades, didn’t own the rights to the album, which went out of print in the UK within 12 months of its release. For years no company seemed inclined to reissue the album in Britain until, curiously, Virgin picked it up in 1980 (V2179). MCA first issued the album on CD in the States in the early Eighties, but was criticised for the mastering job and a better version followed but with the same catalogue number. Tracks on the original UK version were: 1. OUT IN THE STREET (Townshend) Recorded at IBC Studios, London, April 1965. 2. I DON’T MIND (James Brown) Recorded at IBC Studios, April 1965.
After My Generation, the Who fell out with Talmy, which meant an abrupt end to their recording contract. The resulting legal acrimony resulted in Talmy holding the rights to the master tapes, which prevented the album from being reissued until 2002. The Who were signed to Robert Stigwood's label, Reaction, and released "Substitute". Townshend said he wrote the song about identity crisis, and as a parody of the Rolling Stones's "19th Nervous Breakdown". The album was titled A Quick One (Happy Jack in the US), and reached No. 4 in the UK charts
Put on your best dress baby And darlin', fix your hair up right Cause there's a party, honey Way down beneath the neon lights All day you've been working that hard line Now tonight you're gonna have a good time. I work five days a week girl Loading crates down on the dock I take my hard earned money And meet my girl down on the block And Monday when the foreman calls time I've already got Friday on my mind. When that whistle blows Girl, I'm down the street I'm home, I'm out of my work clothes When I'm out in the street I walk the way I wanna walk When I'm.
