Superstition" is a song by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. It was released on October 24, 1972, as the lead single from his fifteenth studio album, Talking Book (1972), by Tamla. The lyrics describes popular superstitions and their negative effects. Superstition" reached number one in the . and number one on the soul singles chart. Superstition is Stevie Wonder’s lead single from his fifteenth album, Talking Book. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart in January of 1973, and was certified Gold in the UK. What has Stevie Wonder said about the song? I think that the reason that I talked about being superstitious is because I really didn’t believe in it. I didn’t believe in the different things that people say about breaking glasses or the number 13 is bad luck, and all those various things.

Album: Talking Book (1973). Charted: 11 1. Get the Sheet Music License This Song. This was intended for Jeff Beck, who was brought in to play some guitar parts on the album in exchange for a song. At one of the sessions, Stevie came up with the riff and wrote some lyrics, and they recorded a rough version of the song that day for Beck. It took Beck a while to record the song, and by the time he released it, Wonder's version had been out for a month and was a huge hit. Beck felt shortchanged, and made some statements in the press that Wonder didn't appreciate.

Stevie Wonder Lyrics. Very superstitious, writings on the wall, Very superstitious, ladders 'bout to fall, Thirteen-months-old baby broke the lookin' glass Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past. When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way. Very superstitious, wash your face and hands, Rid me of the problem, do all that you can, Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong, You don't wanna save me, sad is my song. The lead single from his fifteenth studio album. Although Stevie Wonder could play almost all of the instruments he used on his songs, he still preferred to let other guitarists play on his records. That's why Jeff Beck, an admirer of Wonder's music, was invited to the album's sessions. Wonder, in return, wrote him a song.
