This is the modern world that I've learned about This is the modern world We don't need no one to tell us what's right or wrong Modern world, this is, this is, this is, this is This is, this is, this is Hey, we don't need no one to tell us what's right or wrong This is a modern world This is the modern world. About The Modern World. The Modern World was the first and only single from the Jam’s 1977 sophomore album, This Is The Modern World. The entire song can be seen as a sort of musical stance by The Jam. That stance being one of indifference and no-fucks giving, almost like their version of The Who’s My Generation. Fitting, since The Who were among The Jam’s biggest influences. The Modern World" Track Info. Written By Paul Weller. This Is the Modern World The Jam. 1. The Modern World. 2. All Around the World.

All Mod Cons is the third studio album by British band The Jam, released in 1978 by Polydor Records. The title, a British idiom one might find in housing advertisements, is short for "all modern conveniences" and is a pun on the band's association with the mod revival. The album reached No. 6 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was reissued in the US in 1979, with the song "The Butterfly Collector" replacing "Billy Hunt".

This is a flawed album by Jam standards, but it would certainly have received praise had it been released by another band. Consumer Guide Album. The Jam: This Is the Modern World The naive, -careerists clumsiness is endearing partly because it gets at truths too obvious to interest the sophisticated; the assumption that the word modern has sociopolitical import, for instance, is laughably autodidactic at one level and yet not without resonance when pounded out over and over. Would that the pounding were a little more flexible-this might rock as invitingly as their first if only it were varied with some appropriate covers. How about "Kicks"? B+.

Their second album, This Is the Modern World, was released later in 1977. In March 1978, the Jam released "News of the World", a non-album single that was both written and sung by Foxton. After The Jam split, Weller and Foxton reportedly did not speak to one another for 20 years. However, in June 2006, it was reported that Weller and Foxton met backstage at The Who's Hyde Park concert, and a ten-minute conversation ended with an embrace. Foxton claimed that the two became friends again in 2009 and this led to them.
