Crystal River was first released on the album "Mudcrutch in 2008. The song became the go-to show closer for the Mudcrutch tours of 2008 and 2016, which featured Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Tom Leadon, and Randall Marsh performing together for the first time since the early 1970’s. in Hollywood in 2008.

Mudcrutch morphed into the Heartbreakers not long after the breakup, retaining guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench, who joined after Leadon's 1972 departure, and as Campbell and Tench remain Petty's lieutenants to this day, even appearing on his solo albums without the Heartbreakers, the question is why would he bother reuniting Mudcrutch when he's working with two-thirds of.

Album · 2008 · 14 Songs. This 2008 self-titled debut album from the band that once existed mostly as a memory is a testament to Petty’s southern rock roots. Mudcrutch was disbanded. Extended Play Live is a live EP released by Mudcrutch in November 2008 on Reprise Records. It was recorded during the band's 2008 tour to promote their first album Mudcrutch. Album: Mudcrutch, Mudcrutch (Reprise). Friday 23 May 2008 00:00. Wondering why Tom Petty's first band Mudcrutch never secured a deal, it strikes me: is there a less appealing name in rock'n'roll? Their pleasant country-rock on this belated debut is no less engaging than that of other, more famous, California-cowboy combos.

MUDCRUTCH, a mixed bag of hits and misses, only partially succeeds in answering these questions. Things kick off with the infectious twang of "Shady Grove. A great way to start things off! Ditto "Scare Easy", a classic Petty song that could easily have fit on any Heartbreakers album between '79-'92. From the tight instrumentation to the snarling lead vocal, this is a Petty gem from top to bottom.
