Released in 1978, Louisiana's Le Roux is the self-titled debut long-player from Le Roux - a sextet whose moniker is derived from a word describing a distinct gumbo. As it is traditionally extracted from several sources, the broth-like substance retains an extremely unique flavor

The original band line up included Jeff Pollard, who performed lead vocals, and Tony Haselden, Rod Roddy, and Bobby Campo. Unfortunately, record labels tended to think of Le Roux as a regional band; as such, and although they appeared on such venues as The Midnight Special, Le Roux never really got the company support it needed to knock a song up the charts. In later years Le Roux went more and more mainstream, and the band did eventually put an album-the 1982 LAST SAFE SPACE-in the top one hundred. But the band's change in sound made it less unique.

LeRoux (also known as Louisiana's LeRoux) is a pop/rock band founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA that saw its heyday from 1978 to 1984. Their early music, though pop-oriented, combined many elements such as Southern rock, AOR, Dixieland jazz, rock, Adult contemporary, Blue-Eyed soul, and some Cajun flavoring, thus defying a pigeonhole into one definable category, like many other diverse Louisiana artists common to an area known for its many musical influences and tastes. After recording the album Up in 1980, they became a noteworthy exponent of the developing.
