Grabado entre noviembre de 1968 y mayo de 1969, SANDRO DE AMERICA representó la cumbre de la primera parte de su carrera. A esta altura Sandro había desarrollado un show escénico de alto voltaje. Más que cantarlas, Sandro vivía al máximo cada una de sus canciones. El 2 de agosto de 1969 Sandro recibió en Nueva York un Disco de Oro por haber sido el artista Latinoamericano con mayor cantidad de discos vendidos en EEUU.
