Find the latest tracks, albums, and images from はっぴいえんど. っぴいえんど (Happy End) was a Japanese folk rock band that existed between 1970 and 1973. Happy End’s albums blended Western folk singing with Japanese melodies. Its members were 細野晴臣 (Haruomi Hosono, bass, vocals), 松本隆 (Takashi Matsumoto, drums, from the band Apryl Fool), 大瀧詠一 (Eiichi Ohtaki, guitar, vocals), and 鈴木茂 (Shigeru Suzuki, guitar, vocals).

Their self-titled debut album (written in Japanese as はっぴいえんど) was released in August on the experimental record label URC (Underground Record Club). Live Happy End (ライブ・はっぴいえんど, Raibu Happī Endo, recorded 9/21/1973, released January 15, 1974). The Happy End (recorded 6/15/1985, released September 5, 1985). Happy End Greeeatest Live! On Stage (はっぴいえんど GREEEATEST LIVE! ON STAGE, recorded 4/12/70, 8/7/71, 4/14/71, released July 15, 1986). Happy End Live On Stage (はっぴいえんど LIVE ON STAGE, recorded 8/9/70, 8/21/71, 4/14/71, 8/7/71, released August 25, 1989).

Blown away by the quality of this record. The packaging is leagues better than any western record I've bought in the last few years and the remastering is perfect. The vinyl is dead quiet, weighty and mint clean from the factory. The OBI fits perfectly and matches up with the artwork seamlessly, my only possible complaint would be that the inner polythene pouch was creased. If you don't want to fork out for an original pressing, this is 'the' definitive version to get.
