I Am the Blues is the sixth studio Chicago blues album released in 1970 by the well-known bluesman Willie Dixon. The album features songs written by Dixon and originally performed by other artists for Chess Records. Four of the nine songs on I Am the Blues – "Back Door Man", "Spoonful", "I Ain't Superstitious", "The Little Red Rooster" – were originally performed by Howlin' Wolf

The material is superb, consisting of some of Willie Dixon's best-known songs of the 1960s, and the production is smoothly professional, but none of the performances here are likely to make you forget the hits by Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and others.

I Am The Blues is a Chicago blues album released in 1970 by the well-known bluesman Willie Dixon. Personnel: Willie Dixon - vocals, bass Johnny Shines - guitar Walter "Shakey" Horton aka Big Walter Horton - harmonica Sunnyland Slim, Lafayette Leake - piano Clifton James - drums.

Chicago Bluesman Willie Dixon was perhaps best known for his songwriting. He wrote or co-wrote over 500 songs and his songs have been recorded by some of the best-known blues musicians of his era, including Muddy Waters, Magic Sam, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson. Long overdue, the album was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1986, whereas Willie Dixon was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

Chess Records songwriter Willie Dixon was the man behind some of the most beloved and influential songs in blues history, inspiring a whole generation of musicians. The Rolling Stones on Ready Steady Go!, November 20, 1964. I played the album to the rest of The Doors and they loved it. But, truthfully, I didn’t even know that Back Door Man was a Willie Dixon song. It probably had his name on the album cover somewhere.
