After a seven-year hiatus, Graham Nash returned to his solo career on Earth & Sky. While much of the material may have originated as an on-again/off-again collaboration with David Crosby (guitar/vocals), by the time the LP hit the racks in 1980 there were only traces of Crosby's input scattered throughout.

Every song is good; he obviously devoted a great deal of effort to it, in the writing, the arrangements, the production and in choosing the supporting cast of excellent players. In my view, "Earth and Sky" compares favorably with "Songs for Beginners", "Wild Tales" and "Songs for Survivors". And it's head and shoulders better than Nash's next album, "Innocent Eyes" and the vast majority of Neil Young's post 1974 releases. Nash fans should give it a listen. FAV song on this album is Skychild, but Earth and Sky is full of the emotion I have only found here. There's nothing dramatic about the album; it's light sound for a girl who thrives on punk & so on, but the bottom line is that these songs get into your soul and if you're listening, you can feel them.
