Avalon (Al Jolson song).

Asa "Al Jolson" Yoelson (May 26, 1886 – October 23, 1950) was an acclaimed American singer and actor whose career lasted from 1911 until his death in 1950. He was one of the most popular entertainers of the twentieth century whose influence extended to other popular performers, including Bing Crosby and Eddie Fisher. Jolson is best known today for his appearance in one of the first "talkies," The Jazz Singer, the first feature film with sound to enjoy wide commercial success, in 1927. Performing the song "Mammy" in blackface, Jolson ad-libbed his signature catchphrase, "You ain't heard nothing yet!" Along with being one of the supreme performers of the vaudeville stage, Jolson was also the first musical artist to sell over 10 million records.

Old pal old gal, You left me all alone; Old pal old gal, I'm just a rolling stone. Shadows that come stealing, Thru the weary night; Always find me kneeling, In the candle light. Old pal, old gal, The nights are long and drear; Old pal old gal, Each day seems like a year. No one left to meet me, After all I've toiled; No one here to greet me, It's an empty world. The long night through I pray to you, Old pal why don't you answer me? My arms embrace an empty space, The arms that held you tenderly.

While we’re talking, let me offer you some free advice Talk less. Ha. Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for. You can’t be serious. You wanna get ahead? Yes. Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead. I’m John Laurens in the place to be! Two pints o’ Sam Adams, but I’m workin’ on three, uh! Those redcoats don’t want it with me! Cuz I will pop chick-a pop these cops till I’m free! Oui oui, mon ami, je m’appelle Lafayette!
