The funny thing about Platinum Pied Pipers is that they're neither platinum nor much like the self-proclaimed pied piper of R&B, R. Kelly. They're underground, no larger than life, yet wholly contemporary - a pair of Detroit producers who introduced their way of doing things with interpretations of Burt Bacharach 's pop staple "The Look of Love" (sounding more like a Cameo tape after being rescued from a puddle) and Faze-O 's rare-groove classic "Riding High" (relatively straightforward, as easy as a summer afternoon.

Platinum Pied Pipers - Triple P (Ubiquity, 2005). If you liked DJ Jazzy Jeff's The Magnificent and Hidden Beach Recording's Hidden Hits Vol. 1, you'll like this album because it's the same kind of vibe going on here: dope beats, mellow grooves, decent performances. Also, similar to those albums, the main focus is on the work of producers Waajeed and Saadiq. In other words, don't expect no Aretha-type singing or Rakim-type rapping.

Platinum Pied Pipers is a Detroit-based hip hop and R&B group composed of producer Waajeed (Robert O'Bryant), and t Saadiq (Darnell Bolden, not to be confused with Raphael Saadiq). Their music usually features a rotating and varied array of artists. The two met through rapper Baatin in 1992. Sometime in 2000, they decided to form a duo and began releasing 12"s and mixtapes
